SERIOUS GARLIC
Spanish Roja (hardneck)
Great all round garlic. Not for the
meek, the flavour never quits.
Yugoslavian Red
(Hardneck)
Pungent garlic aroma with a rich flavour
great with stews, holds up well with long
cooking times.
Korean Red (Hardneck Asiatic type)
Can be very colourful depending on soil type. Medium to large heads with only 5-7 large easy peel cloves. Buff clove wrappers. A very robust garlic, firery rich flavour with sweet overtones.
Cuban (softneck artichoke type)
A great salsa garlic, with a lingering
aftertaste. Medium heads with good size cloves. Tightly clinging clove
wrappers make this a fine long keeper. White bulbs with a hint of pink.
Thai Red (softneck)
A remarkable early season garlic with a sweet nut like quality. The first to mature for us, offering very potent fresh garlic without becoming overly hot. Beautiful blue to redish- purple heavily striped outer wrappers, mahogany coloured, large cloves. A great example of Southeast Asian flavour acclimatised to West Coast growing. Great for Thai cuisine.
Italian (hardneck porcelain)
Heads can be very large with 5-6 huge cloves. Buff coloured clove wrappers with heavy purple striping. Rich flavour and stores well. Most impressive when baked and served on a plate by itself as an appetiser.
Silver Rose (softneck silverskin)
Small to medium size heads with traditional French Continental flavour. Inner cloveskins are rose coloured. Smooth and creamy when cooked yet quite hot and long lasting taste when raw. Beautiful silver skins adhere tightly making long storing braids.
